Quad ET: a sharp blade.

Octa‘s sound curve is very balanced around the zero dB for the most of the graph with a 10dB V curve just before the 10k and another just after it. This model stays up even after the 10k (even if this band is perceived more by bones than by the membrane, so the curve may be not accurate). Engineered for music listening and for demanding musicians who don’t need high magnitude during performances.

Multidimensional experience.

  • Sounds seems to come from around you.
  • A balanced and flat sound almost stable on the higher band.

Octa utilises the brand new electrostatic technology with four combined tweeters powered by two dedicated adapters (located inside the shell). You should not only refer to the frequency response curve while evaluating this model but also consider the quality of the final aesthetics of the high frequencies… even more if they are accompanied by an interesting balance of flatness from the bass to the medium-high band. The configuration of all ET models must stay around the zero dB mark for most of the spectrum in order to achieve full perception of the Electrostatic Tweeter.

Incredible miniaturisation

Octa‘s technology is extremely precious and miniaturised: four electrostatic tweeters and two dedicated adaptors need to be fitted inside your ear, plus the other 3 standard drivers composing the sound engineering of this model which incorporates the considerable number of 20 electronic parts and almost one day of assembly including our tubeless outlet system.

Incredible cables

The standard cable provided with Octa is the worldwide famous Linum™ G2 Super BaX™. This is definitely the best cable you can acquire with this budget in terms of sound fidelity, response and durability. For more information about the  Linum™ G2 Super BaX™  please visit the product page.

The WAVAYA Octa has absolutely dreamy performance at $1590. As far as I know, the Octa was the first IEM to have an electrostatic quad tweeter setup, and I have to say, the kind of refinement that the quad tweeter gives to the sound is remarkable. Basically from the lower mids to the upper treble instruments just sound deliciously realistic. The bass has good texture, but it is a balanced armature set-up in the bass, so don’t expect that it will rumble you to your core like a dynamic driver can. From a comfort perspective, the harder porcelain material takes some getting used to, and still feels more present than an acrylic, but at the same time doesn’t cause the same amount of sweating or wax build-up, so it is a trade-off. I’m used to it, but it isn’t as comfortable as my best fitting acrylics—might be different for others. My ears are sensitive. The accessories that come with this are exceptional. The Linum SuperBaX is a fantastically comfortable and excellent sounding cable, the leather box securely holds the IEMs and looks classy. Overall, this is an exceptional bargain at $1590. WAVAYA has hit a grand slam here.

I recently did some brief comparisons to other electrostatic hybrids at a show. The Octa did well, so I thought I’d share.

  3. Headfonics

The Octa is unique. It stands out a mile from the crowd with its bold coloring and porcelain build aesthetic. You will not forget it in a hurry. It sits nicely in the ear, comes with a quality cable and enough branded stickers to cover an entire guitar case and then some.

The Octa is of a vocal lover’s tuning. More of an intimate and upfront singing experience with a rich, slightly euphonic yet very detailed presentation. The BA/stats driver speed is excellent and most importantly for a hybrid, I am not hearing a driver disconnect or a lack of coherency.
