Pierdavide Carone (Rome, 30 June 1988) is an Italian singer-songwriter, who came to success in 2010 after taking part in the 9th edition of the talent show Amici di Maria De Filippi, in which he placed third.
Raised in Palagianello, in the province of Taranto, he soon approached the world of music. In 2009 he joined the 9th edition of Amici di Maria De Filippi where he places third; at the same time he writes the book “I sogni fanno rima” and the song “Per tutte le volte che…” sung by Valerio Scanu, winner of the 2010 Sanremo Music Festival.
On March 30th, 2010 his debut album “Una canzone pop” was released, it entered the first position in the FIMI ranking. The album was anticipated by the single “Di notte”, which debuted at the first position of the FIMI ranking. In this period there is also the release of the single “Cellule” sung with the other competitors of Amici di Maria De Filippi. He takes part in the Wind Music Awards 2010 and is awarded for his multi-platinum debut album, then another single “Mi piaci…ma non troppo” was published.
On October 29th, 2010 the single “La prima volta” was released, a song that anticipated the publication of the “Distrattamente” album, released on November 23rd, the album got the thirteenth position in the FIMI ranking. In February 2011 the singer received a nomination for the 2011 TRL Awards in the category of Best Talent Show Artist, but he didn’t win. On March 4th the second single “Dammela…la mano” was released.
On June 28th, 2011 Sony Music publishes “Dalla parte di Rino”, a tribute album to Rino Gaetano in which Carone plays “Berta filava”. During the summer he opened the concerts for Franco Battiato. On September 16th, a piece from the video clip “Volo a Rio” was released on Video Mediaset and “Rio” – the album, was released on September 27th.
After Scanu’s victory, he maintained a certain prolificacy as author by writing for, among others, Matteo Macchioni, Simone Frulio and, finally, the theme for Amici 10.
On January 15th, 2012, his participation together with Lucio Dalla with the song “Nanì” at the 62nd Sanremo Festival was announced. Pierdavide placed fifth and at the same time he released his third album, “Nanì e altri racconti”, produced by Lucio Dalla. On April 6th, 2012, the new single “Basta così” was published and it premiered during Amici.
Starting from March 31st, 2012, he participates in a circuit, called “Big”, dedicated to former competitors of previous editions of the Amici di Maria De Filippi program during the evenings of the eleventh edition. The song is against pedophilia and it has been “censored” or otherwise “excluded” by the singing competition with countless polemics from the public and critics, so much so that it has become very popular and appears on the radio at the beginning of 2019.
